The Taylor Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation was created from love, loss, and a commitment to helping women become informed advocates for their own health.

 

Our founder, Tatiana Taylor, is a registered nurse with firsthand experience navigating breast cancer within her family. Her grandmother, Minnie Taylor, was diagnosed with breast cancer and remained in remission for 13 years. Years later her mother, Andrea Taylor passed away in March 2025 from stage IV metastatic breast cancer.

Watching her grandmother's journey and her mother's battle gave Tatiana a personal understanding of how breast cancer affects entire families and communities. Andrea's late-stage diagnosis strengthened her commitment to promoting family-history awareness, early detection by understanding signs and symptoms, and self-advocacy for timely screening and medical attention.

The foundation was established in honor of Andrea and Minnie Taylor and the legacy of strength, compassion, and perseverance they left behind. Our mission is to empower Black women through breast health education, early detection awareness, family-history knowledge, and self-advocacy. By encouraging women to recognize changes, seek screenings, and advocate for quality care, we hope to help reduce the breast cancer mortality disparities affecting Black women in Milwaukee County.
